Position/Role:
This is a permanent role for an experienced PHP Developer. The role will report directly to the Technical Director. The ideal candidate needs to have ambition and drive with a willingness to learn quickly, and will be undaunted by both back-end application development and user-facing “Web 2.0” development. He or she will be working together alongside the Chief Architect, Lead Developer and other senior software developers on a cutting edge social rewards platform.
Technical Skills This position will suit a developer with at least three years of commercial experience in writing bespoke, object oriented PHP applications and object oriented JavaScript. The successful candidate will be working in an Agile, test driven LAMP environment, and a proven track record developing test driven PHP applications is essential, as are knowledge and ability in object oriented JavaScript development, and experience in CSS and HTML 5.
Minimum 2 years commercial experience creating sound object-oriented web applications using PHP5 and MySQL
Sound knowledge of creating and optimising SQL queries to be executed for a high load production environment
Demonstrable understanding of the principles behind the MVC architectural pattern (in particular Zend Framework)
Recent experience in Ajax development, esp. using Jquery.
A familiarity with SVN and GIT version control systems
Experience in building widget-based applications
Advantageous - Demonstrable Java experience and understanding of SOLID principles
- Familiarity with open schema, graph databases or other NoSQL solutions.
Personal - Attention to detail
Willingness to work extra hours to achieve targets
A hunger for personal and professional development and growth as a professional software developer.
Desired Skills - Further knowledge of other design patterns and their appropriate use.
Zend Certified Engineer
Familiarity with working in an agile development environment
Good working knowledge of Unix/Linux command line shells.
