Google To Join Mobile Market
06/01/2010
Google is to rival the likes of the iPhone, Blackberry and Palm Pre with the release of its first mobile handset, the Nexus One. The phone is expected to be unveiled later today at a press conference at Google's head office.
Nexus One will use Android, Google's mobile operating system, which has been on the market since its launch in 2007. Android has been in use in the mobile market in conjunction with Samsung, Motorola, Acer and LG.
Google is expected to price the handset at around £330 ($530) and is expected to be available globally in the coming year. The launch of Google's first mobile handset coincides with it's acquisition of Ad Mob, the mobile ad network, last year, which will facilitate the Nexus One's launch into the market.
