North West Top In The Investment Stakes

The Government organisation the UK Trade and Industry has released a report detailing figures for foreign investment opportunity in the UK.
The report showed that foreign investment in the UK has risen 26% in comparison to the figures for last year. This amounted to 1,744 investment project for the period of 2008 to 2009.
For the last 12 months, a total of 53 countries have invested in the UK. India was the largest increased investor, who increased their investment by 44% on the previous year just short of the USA who continues to be the main investor which saw its investment rise to 621 investment projects. Other countries contributing to the UK’s investment projects included Italy with an increased of 45%, France (15%), Canada (25%) and The Gulf (25%).
As a result of this raised investment, more than 35,000 new jobs have been created in the UK and over the last 6 years, in excess of 215,000 new jobs have been produced as a consequence of inward investment ventures.
With the North West coming closely behind London and the South East for the most popular UK region for investment the region has seen 176 investment projects which has impacted on 11,436 jobs in the area either being created or saved as an effect of the investment projects.
