My client is a European primary research firm focused on facilitating consultations with leading industry specialists in Europe. Clients include top business leaders, mostly active in financial investment and strategy consulting, who seek to develop insights and gather critical, sometimes niche information regarding investment decisions in European markets.

The Role:
All our activities revolve around our IT systems, which are purposely developed in-house to deal efficiently with our unusual industry requirements and already great they plan to make it even better.
This role will allow the successful candidate a lot of autonomy; the job itself revolves around designing and coding the front-end of a very complex user interface for an Intranet/Extranet application. The business requires very large amounts of information to be presented to internal users, and complex logic to interact with it. A well designed interface is crucial to efficiency, quality and happiness.
The whole development team is based in our central London office. We follow a classic Agile methodology, with short release cycles, daily scrum meetings. Technology-wise, everything is web-based, LAMP platform with some server applications like search engines and I/O filters. We rely more on sound architecture, smart tools and painless interfaces and you will have the freedom to choose the technologies on which to base the front-end.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be organised with a talent for getting things done to tight deadlines and eager to take initiative.
You will be an experienced front end developer with UI design skills and will have demonstrated ability in:
Deep experience of front-end development and software engineering, namely HTML (especially templating), CSS, JavaScript / JQuery and Adobe CS, including skills to design high level structures.
Ability to produce structured, time proof code
Background in working with complex web applications rather than static websites, demonstrating a solid understanding of web interaction and usability standards.
Business awareness, experience in working closely with product managers: communicate and validate concepts, ability to sketch wireframes and create functional prototypes
Defining innovative user interfaces which result in improved user productivity
Use of PHP / LAMP is ideal but not necessary. If you have some experience in other web platforms like J2EE, REST interfaces and PHP frameworks is a nice to have.
